Happy Friday

Hey friends, what are you up to this weekend?  I think I'm itching for another road trip adventure day.  We have had lots of those lately.  Been to places like...

Estes Park, CO

Grand Lake, CO

Fort Collins, CO

Also, Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs as seen HERE.

Paul and I love road tripping.  Check out our Fall trip back East last year.  We went from DC up North in NY to Canada through Quebec and down into Main, Massachusetts, etc back home.

Tell me about your most favorite road trip or better yet post the link so we can all check out your photos!! Happy Friday.

Have a Great 4th of July Weekend

Hello Lovelies.  I hope you are doing something great for the holiday weekend.  Paul and I wanted to drive home to visit family, but thanks to Jack's fiasco that wont be happening.  Jack is doing fine by the way.  He thinks he is fine and that he didn't just have surgery and get 28 staples in his belly.  He is way too hyper for his own good and I can not wait to be able to take him to a dog park for like 2 hours and let him run until he can't any longer.

Any plans for the weekend? I want to go to the Colorado Music Festival to hear the symphony play patriotic music at Chautauqua in Boulder.

Maybe you should go see an awesome concert like I did this week. HERE
Or make a yummy citrus Stella cake. HERE
Or how about these yummy cookies pictured above by the lovely Martha Stewart. HERE
Or try one of these 23 mouth watering burger recipes found at Sunset Magazine HERE
Or maybe do a really fun bike race HERE and HERE

Whatever you do please be safe & don't drink and drive.

Have a Great Weekend

I am curious if anyone else has this problem.  Paul insists on making his side of the bed with his pjs tucked under his pillow (at least when he decides to help make the bed). This sounds good in theory, but somehow he manages to just throw it in the corner of the bed and even though the bed is made it ends up looking like a big mess. Sometimes I dream that my bed looks like this
or this

but usually it looks a lot like this  (if you imagine pjs sticking out) this is not my actual bed.

I am not sure why he can't just take off his pjs and put them away in a dresser. I realize that I need to pick my battles so I try to let this one go. So my question is...

"What weird things does your spouse or loved one do?"

Paul also can't seem to figure out where our laundry bins are. I am just saying.

Have a great weekend. I am heading off to my college class at Northern Virginia Community College to see my students final presentations. This class is called Overview of the Recording Industry. We have a good time researching and doing case studies on artists like Lady Gaga, Dave Matthews Band, Radiohead, the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Justin Beiber, and many more. Tonight my students are presenting me with their press kits. I am excited to see what they have created.

Beautiful February Day

I don't want to hurt the feelings of those that live back home in freezing Utah, but today it will be 70 F outside.  I am sorry. In your name I am going to take my Madsen Cargo Bike out to the store and around the town. Maybe I will even go for a run (I say that as a maybe cause if you know me you know how badly I hate running, so more realistically I will go for a brisk walk).  I am hoping this weather means that it will officially become springtime here in Virginia.  I can not wait for this...
The National Cherry Blossom Festival March 26-April 10.

Hope you guys have a great weekend.  I am going to go to a movie tomorrow morning. Any suggestions?

PS.  What are your feelings on Lady Gaga's new song "Born This Way"

Can we say "Express Yourself" by Madonna.  I was pretty shocked when I heard it.  I think that is wrong and sounds like plagiarism to me. I realize the lyrics and melody are different, which are the two things that can be copy written, but it just sounds so much like the song that maybe it is just unethical.  Maybe Lady Gaga missed that lecture in school.  It doesn't take as much talent to copy someone else. Read this article about the song. It contains a mash-up of the two songs (for all your Gleeks out there).

Glove Animals

Happy 3rd of December everyone! I think today is going to be a beautiful day. I am mostly spending it doing homework, but the way I see it, every day I spend doing homework is one day closer to being done with the semester.  Note to anyone curious if they should take 12 graduate credits in a semester...my answer is HELL NO! I always took 16 undergraduate credits every semester, but this is way different. What was I thinking.

Okay, on to better things and cute Christmas gift ideas. How would you like to make a cute gift using only a sock and a glove?  Try these little creatures out. I think they are adorable.  Tutorial HERE.

Have a Great Weekend

Hey friends.  I just wanted to say "Have a Fabulous Weekend."  I will be working on a PR/marketing midterm, reading 2 books (sadly school books), and hopefully watching a great movie.  If the weather is nice maybe I will go on a bike ride.  I really wish I had biking friends out here.  I love to ride my bike, I don't regularly do like 20 mile rides, but I do enjoy a good 10 miler and I just haven't found any other ladies who want to come along.  So if you live in the DC area and like to ride bikes then let me know.

To get your weekend off right here is a look at Kid Rock's house. I am really impressed by his decor. I actually would love to live in a house like this. Who knew Kid Rock rocked interior design.
This post is from Katiedid blog.

Kid Rock's Living Room
For those of you who do not get C Magazine, I thought you deserved to see the latest rock star crib that is way beyond what you might expect to see on MTV's Cribs.

And thank goodness Kid Rock had the savvy to engage the ultra talented Martyn Lawrence-Bullard.

Main Entrance

Lawrence-Bullard has an affinity for Indonesian inspired design, and this home reflects this passion. Many of the items are Lawrence-Bullard's own design and available through Lawrence-Bullard Home.

Dining Room

Located in Malibu, the home is the perfect California beach hideaway. It is a personal Shangri-La with beautiful exotic woodwork and South Pacific furnishings and Moroccan textiles. One can just feel the Pacific breezes blowing through the white muslin bed curtains.

Autumn Is Beginning

The weather is finally cooling down in Virginia. This past summer all I could think of was my life if I lived in cool Monterey, California. I would search for houses and jobs on the internet and imagine my life somewhere else. This is not so good if you are trying to live in the moment.

I am not really one to enjoy humidity. I didn't think I would hate it so much, but man this summer was terrible. I think I really am a weather person. Where ever I live it is going to have to have good weather, at least my definition of good weather and that includes no inversion (all you Salt Lake City Slickers know what I am talking about), and no humidity.

Anyways, here are some picture from last year in Virginia and show a couple of things I am looking forward to this fall.

Have a Happy Weekend.

I have about 600 pages to read by Monday. Boo on Grad School.

Attack of the Escalator 3... Eddie Bauer

We received the refund check yesterday and a gift card for $100. Sadly not $200 like I had wished for, but hey it is $100 more than we had the day before. Paul has already gone online and found a winter jacket that he wants.

Thanks Eddie Bauer for being so efficient and easy to work with regarding this accident. If you are reading this and are unaware of what I am talking about then see

Have a Happy Weekend. I know we will enjoy our last weekend of freedom, we must enjoy it, because for the next 14 weeks we have grad school. Starts on Monday. Yuck and yeah-- depending on how you look at it.
