Buying a Home

So Paul and I are in the midst of buying a house which as many of you know if fun, exciting, and sometimes annoying.  It is a cute yellow bungalow in a great neighborhood for making good friends, doggie play dates, and families. I am really hoping it all works out smoothly.  I have been pinning things like crazy that I want to do to the house, but the first order of business is this...
11827 OSCEOLA St, Westminster, CO 80031
The house is yellow with white (possibly cream) trim which is adorable.  The shingles up above are not so adorable, they are light pink. Yeah you heard me, light pink.  The picture doesn't show the nature of this situation, but trust me a yellow and pink house is not a good combination. So immediately when we move in I want to pain the shingles a different color so I am taking votes.  I am thinking a nice gray would look great or even just continue the yellow up above on the shingles.  What do you think?

I like gray, although I know a certain 2 year old that would think the pink and yelow motif is perfect. And that house is so cute!

Persimmon. The color of pain is always persimmon.

I'd actually vote for white on your trim. Not a bright white though, one with warmer tones. Getting a new house is exciting!! Hope it all works out!

Great choice! I love how spacious the porch is. But, you’re right. It definitely needs improvement so I vote for gray, too. It so nice that you’ve already planned things out before you move in. I can wait to see how it turns out. Good luck!

Maybe the owner was inspired by fairy tales that's why he/she chose light pink as the color of the shingles! You should pick gray as the color of the shingles. It would be a nice contrast to the warm yellow of the body of the house.

Hey Leah, I’m glad to know buying a house didn’t cause you so much stress. That was very unusual, in a good way. Your realtor was probably good, or do you have any secret you want to share? Ha-ha! I’m sure it would help a lot of infuriated buyers. Your pick was adorable. Congrats!!

Your home plans are incredible, Leah! I think gray would be a very nice color for your shingles. For the specific shade, I think a dim gray will be perfect to go with the color yellow. Anyway, though it’s late, I would like to congratulate you on your home!

That’s what you get when you carefully plan ahead – a satisfying upshot! I always tell to my friends that if they’re planning to buy something, whether it is car, a lot, a home, or whatsoever, always narrow down your ideas and plan in detail to avoid impulse buying.

Yeah, you're right. The combination of yellow and pink doesn't complement each other very well. I suggest that you replace the pink shingles with a darker color; probably brown would suit the color of your house best. Just my two cents… So, what color did you go for?
